Swell Feels Privacy Policy

Swell Feels is made by Parker L Hansen LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app stores, who can see it, and how you control it.

What we collect

  • Account information: your email address and the display name you choose. If you sign up with email, your password is stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider. We never see it in readable form. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive only what you allow them to share, typically your name and email. If you choose Apple's "Hide My Email", we receive a private relay address instead of your real one.

  • What you log: spot, date, start time, tide, conditions, wind, water temperature, crowd, duration, board, how the session felt, notes, and who you surfed with, if you choose to add them.

  • Your setup: boards, custom feelings, your spot list, and settings like units, dark mode and reminders.

We don't collect your location, contacts or photos, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell your data, to anyone.

  • We don't show ads or share your data with advertisers.

  • We don't run your notes or reflections through AI or any automated content analysis.

  • We don't use your data for anything other than running the app for you.

Who can see your data

Only you. Every record is tied to your account, and access rules in our database stop anyone else from reading or changing it.

Services we use

  • Supabase stores your account and data on servers in the United States and handles sign-in and account emails. Data is sent over encrypted connections. supabase.com/privacy

  • Apple and Google: if you choose "Sign in with Apple" or "Sign in with Google", they confirm your identity and share your name and email with us. We don't receive your Apple or Google password or access to anything else in those accounts. Their own privacy policies apply to that sign-in: apple.com/legal/privacy and policies.google.com/privacy.

  • NOAA and Open-Meteo: when you pick a spot on the Log screen, the app asks them for that beach's tide, swell, wind and water temperature. They receive a beach location and a date only, never your name, email or anything you've logged.

We don't use analytics or advertising tools. If that changes, we'll update this policy first and tell you in the app before the change takes effect.

Sharing

Nothing leaves your account unless you use "Share outside the app" or "Share your stats", which create an image you choose to save or send yourself.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your data while your account exists. In the app:

  • Settings > Data > Export downloads everything as a spreadsheet or backup file.

  • Clear all data deletes your sessions, boards and custom feelings.

  • Delete account permanently deletes your account and everything in it from our servers. This can't be undone.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including California (CCPA/CPRA) and the EU/UK (GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data. You can do most of this in the app. For anything else, email us.

Children

Swell Feels is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we'll delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that affects how your data is used, we'll tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
